As a writer and priestess, i know that life is about words of power.
I am a Chicago native (born and raised) and first-generation Serbian American who was raised in the Dual-Faith Tradition/Serbian folk Orthodox Christianity. From a very early age, I was taught by my Serbian immigrant parents to believe in the Spirit World and the beneficent intervention of my ancestors in daily life. A modern Polytheist, I tend to roll out a welcome mat to chthonic Gods and Goddesses in particular, and Veles (Велес) is my most beloved of my ancestral Gods.
Grateful to be raised in a city with such a robust Pagan scene, I became active in the Chicago Fellowship of Isis (FOI) community in 2002 and I received my legal ordination as a Priestess in 2012. A certified Death Midwife and experienced spirit worker, I am the founder of the FOI-chartered Iseum of the Rekhet Akhu, a teaching temple whose mission is to highlight the interrelatedness of the communities of the living and the dead and to cultivate transfigured spirits (Akhu) within the living through the Egyptian tradition of temple ritual magic. I also happen to be an initiate in the West African traditional religion of Ifá.
I attained an M.A. in English degree from Loyola University Chicago and I have formerly taught literature and writing courses at the undergraduate level. I am the proud author of Slava! Slavic Paganism and Dual-Faith Folk Ways (Llewellyn Worldwide, anticipated release February 2026), a work reflective of my personal experiences and 17 years of academic research. A dedicated Muertista since 2013, I am the author of the devotional prayer book In Praise of the Lady of Power: An English-Language Booklet of Prayers Dedicated to La Santa Muerte (Nemetona Press, 2024). My Pagan poetry has been published in the Scarlet Imprint anthologies Datura (2010) and Mandragora (2012). I greatly enjoy traveling about the country and presenting workshops and rituals at various Pagan festivals, such as Paganicon and Pagan Spirit Gathering. I share my home with two goofy rescue dogs, six slinky rescue cats, and a beautiful sunset albino corn snake, Brimo, who serves as the Serbian čuvar kuća, or “watcher of the house.”
